It’s raining fish in Australia
A small Australian town is being bombarded by fish from the sky.
The phenomenon is created by whirlwinds over water, which have enough power to lift fish out of the water and even empty the entire contents of a pond. This leads to other animals such as salamders and newts to also “rain from the sky”.
In the above instance, the fish have traveled a distance of at least 326 miles!

Happy Thanksgiving
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
I’m thankful everyday for my faithful beagle companion; and like many others, so thankful that regardless of what’s going on in the world or in our lives, we have animals to bring us up.
Stuff yourself into a food coma, only to wake up hours later to brave the cold on black Friday.
While you’re out, get something nice for your pet!

The Nitro Foundation
I received a sad email recently from Liz and Tom, whose dog Nitro suffered from starvation following a stay at an out-of-state canine training facility. Even more unfortunate was that he was one of many, and a clear victim of animal cruelty.
Please visit their website, The Nitro Foundation, to learn more about their ordeal. Additionally, you will find more information to support Liz and Tom in helping to ensure that the injustices Nitro and other dogs suffered are not taken lightly.

As if regular sized spitting cobras weren’t enough, this new species was found in Kenya. It has enough venom in one bite to kill 20 people. Now, let’s just hope that this thing doesn’t learn to bit 20 people at once.

Vick indicted on state charges…
…but NOT for animal cruelty.
Despite having sworn statements from his federal trial attesting to the acts he committed, the Surry County DA is not pursuing animal cruelty charges.
It’s ridiculous to watch the DA dodge questions in the ESPN link below (watch the video):
Virginia grand jury indicts Vick on dogfighting-related charges
The rational is apparently that he doesn’t want to be seen as “hopping on board” with the same charges pressed by the federal prosecutors. The animal cruelty charges could have exposed Vick and his counterparts to up to an additional 40 years in prison.
